Pacmed DSR Capsules

Composition (per capsule):

• Pantoprazole (as Gastro-resistant granules): 40 mg

• Domperidone (as Prolonged-Release granules): 30 mg

Description:

Pacmed DSR is a dual-action capsule combining Pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), and Domperidone, a prokinetic agent. It provides effective relief from acid-related disorders by reducing stomach acid secretion and enhancing gastric motility, making it beneficial in conditions like GERD, acidity, and reflux.

Pharmacological Action:

1. Pantoprazole (PPI):

   • Irreversibly inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase pump in the stomach lining.

   • Strong acid suppression, long-lasting effect.

2. Domperidone (Prokinetic agent):

   • Enhances gastric emptying by blocking dopamine (D2) receptors in the GI tract.

   • Prevents nausea, bloating, and reflux symptoms.

Indications (Uses):

• Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

• Peptic ulcers (gastric & duodenal)

• Dyspepsia with bloating

• Nausea & vomiting associated with acidity

• Gastritis & reflux esophagitis

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults: 1 capsule daily (preferably before breakfast).

• In severe cases, dosage may be adjusted as per physician’s advice.

• Do not chew or crush the capsule – swallow whole with water.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to Pantoprazole, Domperidone, or any component of the capsule.

• Patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction, or perforation.

• Moderate to severe hepatic impairment.

• Patients with prolonged QT interval (heart rhythm disorder).

Side Effects:

• Common: Headache, dizziness, diarrhea, constipation, dry mouth.

• Rare: Elevated liver enzymes, hypersensitivity reactions, gynecomastia (with long-term domperidone use).

Precautions & Warnings:

• Use cautiously in patients with liver or kidney impairment.

• Long-term use may reduce magnesium, calcium, or vitamin B12 levels.

• Avoid alcohol and smoking for better results.

• Should be used during pregnancy or lactation only under medical advice.

Storage:

• Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C.

• Protect from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Keep out of reach of children.
